October
31 – Coat Drive
Prior to October 31, we are requesting volunteers to encourage contributions
of new/gently-used coats, gloves, scarves, hats, anything to help
clients cope with the winter. This
is a great volunteer
activity to encourage individuals to clean out their closets and ask
their friends to do the same! We
may need help laundering some of the gently-used coats.
And of course, raising monetary donations
to purchase coats for sizes that we do not seem to have, especially
young children, is always appreciated.
October 31
–8:30 AM to Noon -- Coat Drive Distribution; we will need extra volunteers!
November 21 – Thanksgiving Dinner Distribution
November 18 and 19 – 6-8 PM; we will need volunteers to stock the food pantry
shelves with Thanksgiving food items.
Need volunteers
to help organize the way we will distribute food.
Prior to November 18 – need donations;
because of our buying power when we purchase a large amount, we
encourage monetary donations to go toward our purchases;
however, if preferred, volunteers
may donate turkeys, turkey breasts, and hams; need volunteers to organize food in the
warehouse to save for Thanksgiving outreach.
This
outreach allows registered clients to come to the H.E.L.P. House and
select either a turkey or ham, plus stuffing, potatoes, canned
goods, desserts, etc. that they would like to serve their own
families on Thanksgiving.
November 21
– 8:30 AM – Noon; we will need extra volunteers
to assist with the Thanksgiving Dinner distribution.
December 13 – Little Lambs Christmas Party (1:00 – 4:00 PM)
Need
volunteers
to contribute veggie trays, little sandwiches, cookies and little
“goodie bags” (about 100) for this Children’s Christmas Party,
focused on the birth of Jesus, rather than Santa.
December 19 – Little Lambs Christmas Shopping Day (8:30 AM – Noon)
Christmas
“Shopping” for Parents & Guardians to select presents for
their children; this amazing outreach gives parents/guardians the
dignity of giving Christmas gifts/clothing to their kids on
Christmas morning, instead of a “charity.”
Prior to December 19 – we need volunteers
to contribute new and gently-used gifts, toys and clothing for
children through age 17; volunteer groups can also volunteer
to clean toys and gifts, help organize the Christmas “mountain,”
conduct inventory, etc.
December 16 and 17 (and perhaps 18) – 6-8 PM; we need many volunteers and volunteer groups to help organize
tables of toys and gifts, as well as racks of clothing.
December 19 – 8:30 AM to Noon;
we need volunteers
and volunteer
groups to assist with the distribution: managing a table for a specific age group, restocking tables
between timed client shopping groups, and assist clients with taking
their gifts to their cars.
We
love our volunteers! We
could not survive without our volunteers!
